Responding to the left’s attacks on ‘Matt K Lewis’

My post yesterday regarding claims made by the conservative group ForAmerica that they might have crashed Obama’s Facebook Townhall event page drew predictable outrage from the left (one post was titled, “The easily debunked lies of Matt K Lewis”).

A short response is in order.

First, it is clear that the event page did, in fact, come down.

Second, I correctly reported that representatives of ForAmerica were claiming they were likely responsible.

It is impossible to know for sure what caused the site to crash.  But it is clear via the quotes I attributed to ForAmerica’s chairman (a respected national conservative figure) and a spokesman that they believe they were responsible.

Once the site came back up it was also clear the majority of comments posted on the Facebook wall were boilerplate language provided by ForAmerica.  The group was urging supporters to write: It’s not a tough choice, Mr. President. You have added $3.5 TRILLION to the debt already, the first thing we should do is repeal Obamacare”:

A reporter at TheDC contacted Facebook before my post went live.  Their response was so evasive and bland as to not warrant posting: “The page is up and running and we’ve received thousands of comments and questions for President Obama. We look forward to today’s event.”

So where was I lying?  The page came down, a conservative group said they were likely responsible, and I reported it.
