LAS VEGAS — Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval on Wednesday appointed Republican Rep. Dean Heller to the Senate seat occupied by outgoing Sen. John Ensign.
“Dean Heller is a compassionate man of deep personal integrity, with a down-to-earth approach to public service,” Sandoval said in a statement.
The move, which came as a surprise to no one, officially puts Heller in the driver’s seat toward victory in the 2012 election.
