After weeks of speculation, Elizabeth Banks officially landed the coveted role of Effie Trinket in “The Hunger Games.” Banks confirmed that she snagged the role on Twitter. “I can now confirm I’m EFFIE TRINKET in @TheHungerGames. So excited!” she wrote. “The Hunger Games” is the latest addition to a long list of high-profile roles for the 37-year-old actress. Banks will also star alongside Paul Rudd in the much anticipated comedic drama, “Our Idiot Brother,” and currently plays Alec Baldwin’s wife on NBC’s hit comedy “30 Rock.”
In addition to playing lead roles on both the small and big screen, Banks recently started playing her most important role yet: mother. The star and her husband, Max Handleman, became parents to a baby boy, Felix, in March 2011.
