The cast of “Magic Mike,” which follows a male stripper and his protege, has just gotten hotter. According to Deadline, “Beastly” babe Alex Pettyfer will star alongside “She’s the Man” actor Channing Tatum, an actual former exotic dancer.

The movie, which was inspired by Tatum’s real-life stripper experiences, features Pettyfer as a young Tatum and Tatum as his older mentor. Tatum plays the main character who shows Pettyfer how to move on and off the stage.

As early as last year, Tatum expressed an interest in having his stripper experiences depicted on the big screen. But according to a Sydney Morning Herald interview from last year, “Magic Mike” director Steven Soderbergh might not be Tatum’s first choice for the job.

“I’ve already got the director picked out. I’d like Nicolas Refn, who did the movie ‘Bronson,’ to do it because he’s insane for it,” Tatum said in January 2010. “It needs to be a crazy film and I think it’s also possible to do a cute, romantic movie.”

Also known for having had a reportedly bad break-up with “Glee” star Dianna Agron, 21-year-old Pettyfer has remained in the news for making peculiar comments.

In an April interview with V Man magazine, Pettyfer mentioned that he got “Thank you” tattooed right above his privates “[i]n case I forget to say it.”

On southern California culture, the British young man said, “L.A. is growing on me a little bit, but it’s still a shit-hole. I think it’s this insidious pool where nearly everyone lives in fear. Geographically it’s fantastic: in a half hour, you can be on the beach in one direction, go snowboarding in another, or go out into the desert. But socially it’s disgusting. I wish they’d just run all the c-nts out.”
