For the second time this week, Daily Beast blogger Meghan McCain defended her father against former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, who said Ariz. Sen. John McCain “doesn’t understand how enhanced interrogation works.”
In a Tuesday interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt, Santorum responded to the former prisoner of war’s claim that torture didn’t lead to Osama bin Laden’s death.
“This idea that we didn’t ask that question while Khalid Shaikh Mohammed was being waterboarded, he doesn’t understand how enhanced interrogation works,” Santorum said of former colleague McCain. “I mean, you break somebody, and after they’re broken, they become cooperative. And that’s when we got this information.”
Meghan first shot back at Santorum on Tuesday with her tweet,”Rick Santorum telling my father doesn’t know about torture is like Carrot Top telling Lebron James he doesn’t know about basketball.”
Upon clarifying that she didn’t mean to insult the redheaded comedian, the 26-year-old compared Santorum to “Jersey Shore” reality star Jenni “JWoww” Farley.
“Rick Santorum lecturing my father about torture is like JWOWW lecturing Malcom Gladwell about writing,” McCain wrote.
Last week, Meghan McCain got into a tiff with Fox News television host Glenn Beck, who said a skin cancer public service announcement featuring her bare shoulders made him puke.
“While we’re on the subject of you vomiting on air, maybe we should have a little talk,” McCain wrote in an open letter to Beck. “Clearly you have a problem with me, and possibly women in general, but the truth is, it’s 2011 and I heard your show on Fox was canceled. Isn’t that an indication that the era of the shock jock pundit is over? Don’t you think that’s a sign you should be pulling it back a little? I mean, if you’re too conservative and outrageous for Fox, that should tell you something.”
