President Barack Obama was short on Irish luck during his visit to Dublin when his “Beast” Cadillac got caught on the embassy ramp. Onlookers cheered and yelling ensued, and several other vehicles quickly rolled up to gate to shield the president’s automobile from the street. The cars protected the “Beast” for several minutes.

“The Beast was coming along and suddenly there was a loud kind of bang, metal-on-metal, grinding, crunching noise and the car was stuck,” an RTE reporter said, adding that Obama and first lady Michelle waited in the car as security officials and police officials raced over to the malfunctioning Cadillac. The Obamas eventually relocated to another vehicle to drive to the Marine Force One helicopter ready to take them to the village of Moneygall, where one of Obama’s great-great-great-grandfathers originated.
