“Forgetting Sarah Marshall” actor Russell Brand may be happily married now, but his past behavior was enough for Japan to deport him.

The comedian’s pop sensation wife Katy Perry tweeted Sunday that she was upset her spouse had been deported while visiting her on tour, “So…my husband just got deported from Japan. I am so. sad. I brought him all this way to show him my favorite place #tokyodreamscrushed.”

Perry explained in her follow-up tweet that Brand, a sex addict and former drug abuser, had been punished for things he’d done 10 years earlier.

“It was for priors from over 10 years ago! #mamanothappy! #don’tmessw/mahman! #uwannaplaylet’sgo #don’ttakeawomansmanfromhershe’llgetshiasty!”, Perry wrote.

The California girl went on to start the hashtag tweet, “#FREE@RUSTYROCKETS! RT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Brand himself made light of the situation by live tweeting the custody experience and posting goofy pictures of himself to Twitter. The 35-year-old Brit tweeted on Sunday, “Planning escape from Japanese custody. It’s bloody hard to dig a tunnel with a chopstick.”

The “Booky Wook” author continued with the jokes with his tweet, “Stockholm syndrome kicking in. Just asked my guard out for (vegetarian) sushi. He giggled.”

The two-time memoir writer ended his Sunday Twitter frenzy with the tweet and snapshot, “Alcatraz! Shawshank Redemption! And now this! Ah, sweet blue bird of freedom! http://yfrog.com/h8g1dynj.”

Newlyweds Brand and Perry tied the knot in a quiet India gathering late last year in front of 80 or so guests at the luxury Aman-i-Khas resort.

“I’m trying to preserve it, to keep it a beautiful thing,” Brand said of his ceremony. “I think people get the wrong idea on how we want the wedding to play out. Love between two people is the most spectacular, yet ordinary thing in the world.”
