After leaving the evening news, Katie Couric will try her hand at a daytime audience.

ABC News reported that just months after leaving CBS, she will join ABC to host a daytime talk show in Fall of 2012.

This won’t be Couric’s first time with ABC News, the journalist worked at ABC News for the Washington bureau in 1979.

In a released statement Couric emphasized her excitement to be able to produce her own show.

“It is tremendously exciting to have the creative freedom to develop my own show,” Couric said.

The press release from ABC stated that while Couric’s main job would be producing and hosting her daytime television show, she will help with the “most important and interesting stories of the day.”

Couric anchored the CBS Evening News for five years before she announced last month that she would leave the news desk.

In May, People reported that Couric’s ABC contract was rumored to payout $20 million and give Couric a big role at ABC as well as allow her to host specials for 20/20.
