Barbara Walters’ theory on Weinergate: It’s the Viagra

What could go wrong when you have longtime television journalist and ABC’s “The View” co-host Barbara Walters out making excuses for you in the midst of your sex scandal?

One day after suggesting that if former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin could go on a bus tour then New York Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner should stay in Congress, Walters had her own thoughts on what was motivating Weiner’s indiscretions when prompted by her co-host Whoopi Goldberg.

“I was going to ask you – why do you think this is happening?” Goldberg said. “Because you have an interesting take on it.”

Walters first examined how Weiner’s wife Huma Abedin was dealing with it and suggested she might be leaning on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who had to deal with her own marital infidelity issues when she was first lady during Bill Clinton’s presidency.

“You talked about Bill Clinton,” Walters said. “Huma has been with Hillary Clinton since 1996. She’s the deputy chief of staff. She started as an intern. The Monica Lewinski scandal was 1998, which means Huma went through this with Hillary. I would be fascinated to know what advice Hillary is now giving Huma.”

Behar hypothesized Hillary Clinton stuck with Bill Clinton because of political ambitions. However, Walters offered viewers one reason that she found plausible for why Weiner and others have ended up going down this road of infidelity – erectile dysfunction medication.

“To get back to what you asked me earlier,” Walters said. “So, I was with some doctors last night and one of them said ‘You know, we keep saying, why did he do it?’” Walters said. “He has a lovely wife. Why is he doing it? This is not my theory. That it is a result of Viagra and what is the other one?”

“Cialis,” the various members of “The View” panel replied.
