John Edwards prosecutor resigns

The federal prosecutor who has pursued former Sen. John Edwards announced his departure this morning.

George Holding, U.S. attorney in North Carolina’s eastern district, is an appointee of former President George W. Bush, but he has stayed on the job at the behest of the state’s two senators to avoid any appearance of interference in the politically sensitive case.
