Bachmann moving in on former Huckabee turf

Newly minted presidential candidate Michele Bachmann has added another former presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee staffer to her ranks.

Alice Stewart, Huckabee’s national press secretary during his 2008 presidential run, has left her position as the spokesperson for the Arkansas Secretary of State Mark Martin to work as Bachmann’s campaign press secretary.

“It’s a great opportunity. I had a short window of opportunity to take advantage of it, and I did,” Stewart said.

Stewart’s move comes on the heels of former Huckabee campaign manager Ed Rollins’ news that he is Bachmann’s campaign manager.

Local Little Rock, Arkansas news station FM KUAR is reporting that other unnamed “key” Huckabee staffers have also joined the Bachmann campaign.

Tuesday morning, on The Laura Ingraham Show, Huckabee was complimentary of Bachmann’s performance in Monday night’s CNN New Hampshire Republican debate.

“I think the person who did herself the most good…was Michele Bachmann because she showed a clarity and feistiness,” Huckabee said. “It was Michele Bachmann who showed up with the gloves on last night.”
