Two of GOP presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich’s top fundraising staff resigned today in yet another blow for the candidate’s beleaguered campaign.

Gingrich campaign spokesman R.C. Hammond has confirmed that fundraising director Jody Thomas and fundraising consultant Mary Heitman have both quit the campaign.

When contacted by Daily Caller reporter Jonathan Strong, Gingrich said, “You need to talk to R.C. Hammond, thanks,” and hung up.

The news come on the heels of another slew of resignations two weeks ago, which left the Gingrich campaign down 16 key staffers, including his paid Iowa staff. According to the Des Moines Register, Gingrich has yet to replace those staff.

“Newt 2012 continues to work toward a grass-roots, solution-orientated campaign,” Hammond said. “We wish the members of the finance team who chose to leave the best, and continue to move forward as committed as ever.”
