Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann has responded to questions about her reportedly “incapacitating” migraines, saying her health is not an impediment to serving her country.

After admitting Tuesday that she occasionally takes prescribed medication for migraines, the Tea Party favorite cited her busy political schedule as proof that she is able to keep up with demands.

“I gave a statement yesterday,” Bachmann said to reporters in Iowa. “We were voting last night in Washington D.C., we got here at about one o’clock in the morning. I keep a very rigorous schedule. I feel great.” (Stress-related condition ‘incapacitates’ Bachmann; heavy pill use alleged)

Bachmann expressed irritation with reporters who pressed her about her health, saying, “we’ve already answered that.”

The Minnesota representative quickly refocused and said she was in Iowa to talk about the debt ceiling, not her fitness for office.

“What I’m here to talk about is the debt ceiling,” Bachmann said. “I think it’s very clear that people in Iowa do not want us to continue government spending and increase the debt ceiling … that’s my focus.”
