“Monte Carlo” star Leighton Meester seems to be living a drama-filled life that could rival the script of her hit show “Gossip Girl.”
Leighton, 25, has reportedly filed a lawsuit against her mother, Constance Meester, for misusing money the starlet set aside to care for her sick younger brother. She claims her mom got plastic surgery with the funds instead.
The Meester family has been plagued by drama since before Leighton was even born. Constance gave birth to Leighton while she was serving a federal prison sentence for her involvement in a drug ring that smuggled marijuana into the U.S. from Jamaica. Despite her mother’s colorful background, Leighton has said that she could have turned out much worse.
Professionally, Leighton has been pretty busy as well.
In 2010, the “Good Girls Go Bad” singer had small roles in romantic comedies “Date Night” and “Going the Distance,” as well as in the country drama “Country Strong” alongside Gwyneth Kate Paltrow.
In 2011, Leighton branched out from the romance film genre to star in the thriller “The Roommate” and to costar in the tween romantic comedy “Monte Carlo” alongside Disney princess Selena Gomez and Katie Cassidy from “A Nightmare on Elm Street.” “Monte Carlo” hit theaters July 1.
With several more projects underway, we can expect to see much more of this singer-actress. But until then, take a look at her journey from television actress to singer and, finally, movie star.
