GOP presidential candidate and Texas Rep. Ron Paul’s latest campaign ad takes on fellow Texan Rick Perry, calling the Texas governor “Al Gore’s Texas cheerleader.”

The ad, released today, touts Paul’s connections and similarities to Ronald Reagan. Paul was one of a handful of congressmen to support Reagan when he primary challenged President Gerald Ford in 1976. Reagan was then branded “extreme” and “unelectable” by the establishment.

The ad contrasts this with Rick Perry, who endorsed Al Gore’s 1988 presidential run and “helped lead Al Gore’s campaign to undue the Reagan Revolution.”
