Michelle Williams has a role many actresses dream of landing. The 31-year-old will portray the iconic blonde Marilyn Monroe in the upcoming film, “My Week with Marilyn.”
Esteemed photographer Annie Leibovitz took snapshots of Williams, whose biggest claim to fame was formerly her role in the 90s television drama “Dawson’s Creek,” in her new character for Vogue’s October issue.
The photos are a great sight for sore eyes, but also a reminder of the adversities both women have faced. Monroe had three failed marriages, two miscarriages and a rough upbringing in foster homes. Williams, who conceived a daughter with late actor Heath Ledger, lost the father of her child in 2008 and must now raise the little girl without a dad. Having suffered a major loss, Williams might very well play the troubled Monroe better than most.
