Members of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah Party verbally assaulted President Obama last week, with one calling the president a “scumbag” and another saying his U.N. speech was “idiotic.”

Speaking on Al-Jazeera TV last week, Fatah Central Committee Member Abbas Zaki called President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “scumbags” while seeming to suggest his long-term goal was to create a Palestinian state instead of Israel, rather than in addition to Israel.

“President Abbas understands, we understand, and everybody knows  that the greater goal cannot be accomplished in one go,” Zaki said, as translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute. “If Israel evacuates from Jerusalem, evacuates the 650,000 settlers and dismantles the wall, what will become of Israel? It will come to an end.”

“Who is nervous, upset and angry now? Netanyahu, [Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Avigdor] Lieberman, Obama,” he added. “All those scumbags.”

In a separate television interview, another Fatah Central Committee member, Jibril Rajoub, called Obama’s U.N. address “idiotic.”

“First of all I think Obama’s speech was idiotic,” he said. “It did not reflect U.S. policy or the doctrine they used in the past. It sounded like the speech of a student leader in a university rather than a speech of a leader of a superpower.”
