Via the New York Times, this is the ad that hits today:

His one-minute commercial will be seen on cable and broadcast networks in Iowa, said a campaign spokesman, R.C. Hammond. The upbeat and positive ad features strong patriotic themes, with Mr. Gingrich speaking directly into the camera. He does not mention his rivals.

… The campaign is spending $250,000 on its first advertising purchase, aides said, which is the first in a series of television commercials that Mr. Gingrich is preparing as he scrambles to build an organization to match his rising popularity.

Excerpt of the script:

Some people say the America we know and love is a thing of the past,” Mr. Gingrich says in the ad. “I don’t believe that, because working together I know we can rebuild America.

We can revive our economy and create jobs, shrink government and the regulations that strangle our businesses, throw out the tax code and replace it with one that is simple and fair. We can regain the world’s respect by standing strong again, being true to our faith and respecting one another…

What do we think? Does it work?
