Ellen DeGeneres is the new face of JCPenney, and one conservative group is not happy about it.

One Million Moms, an organization whose goal is to stop the exploitation of children by the entertainment media, is hoping to convince JC Penney to fire her for being gay, the Inquisitr reports. (RELATED: More on Ellen DeGeneres)

The group argues that the retailer’s decision to hire the openly gay talk show host and comedienne will backfire because most of their customers are from “traditional families.”

“More sales will be lost than gained unless they replace their spokesperson quickly,” One Million Moms said in a statement. “Unless JCPenney decides to be neutral in the culture war then their brand transformation will be unsuccessful.”

GLAAD, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, fired back in support of DeGeneres, announcing that it had gathered 10,000 signatures for its “Stand up for Ellen” campaign.
