The cause of Whitney Houston’s death has yet to be officially determined by the Los Angeles coroner, but fellow diva Celine Dion says she knows what killed the singer: A fatal combination of drugs and bad influences, New York Daily News reported.

“Whitney has been an amazing inspiration for me,” Dion said on “Good Morning America” Monday. “It’s just really unfortunate that drugs, bad people, bad influences took over her dreams, her motherhood.”

Dion compared Houston to other late celebrities whose fates were doomed by drugs.

“When you think about Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe and Michael Jackson and Amy Winehouse, to get into drugs like that, for whatever reason,” she said. “Is it because of the stress and bad influence? What happens when you have everything? What happens when you have love, support, the family, motherhood? You have responsibilities of a mother and then something happens and it destroys everything.”

Dion said that Houston’s death should be treated as a cautionary tale.

Houston was found dead Saturday afternoon in the bathtub of her hotel room at the Beverly Hilton, hours before she was set to perform at Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammy’s party.

Early reports circulated that Houston had died from drowning, but later reports suggest that it was due to a deadly combination of prescription medication and alcohol.
