Daniel von Bargen, the character actor who played Mr. Kruger in “Seinfeld” and Chief Grady in “Super Troopers,” shot himself in the head Monday night and is in critical condition at an Ohio hospital, TMZ reported.

He called 911 himself and explained why he took a gun to his temple: “I was supposed to go to the hospital and I didn’t want to. They were supposed to amputate a few toes.”

Law officials responded to the call and arrived at his Cincinnati apartment moments later and asked him to keep his hands where they could see them before transporting von Bergen to a nearby hospital.

Listen to his 911 call below for more.

Von Bergen’s suicide attempt on Monday was followed by a St. Louis man shooting his friend in the head on Tuesday.

The shooter and owner of the gun, Kevin Beindorff, shot his friend Matthew Pellegrini square in the forehead. Police say that Pellegrini told Beindorff to shoot him.

Saint Louis Today reported Beindorff is being charged with one count of first degree assault and one count of armed criminal action, but may face murder charges as Pellegrini is not expected to survive.
