House Speaker John Boehner blamed “radical environmental groups” for high gas prices and said that it’s “just about damn time that we actually have a national energy policy and do something the American people want us to do.”
“Americans understand that we can produce more of our own energy,” said Boehner. “They don’t understand why 35 years since the oil embargo of 1974 that we’ve never had a national energy policy.”
He added, “We have got a handful of environmental groups, radical environmental groups, who have stood in the way of having a national energy policy all of these years.”
