In an exclusive interview on the Today show set to air Thursday, Lindsay Lohan told Matt Lauer that she is “clean and sober” and wants to “continue to move forward in the right direction.”

Lohan, 25, is just one court appearance shy of putting her legal troubles from a 2007 drunken driving case to rest.

Despite her drunken public appearances and failed movie gigs, Lohan said, “I still need to go through the process of proving myself.”

The actress, who is set to host “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, told Lauer that the temptation of the night life party scene is one she is trying to avoid.

“That’s not my thing anymore,” said Lohan. “I went out, actually, a few months ago with a friend. And I was so uncomfortable. Not because I felt tempted, just because it was just the same thing that it always was before. And it just wasn’t fun for me. I’ve become more of a homebody. And I like that,” MSNBC reported.

When asked whether Lohan believes producers and directors will ever be able to rely on her for roles, Lohan replied, “I think that that’s gonna take — I think that takes time,” Lohan said. “And I think that it’s actions. Because people can say things all they want, but I think I still need to go through the process of proving myself, you know, with ‘SNL,’ being on time, being, you know, keeping my — can’t say the word — but stuff together.”

Lohan will play the role of Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming Lifetime movie titled, “Liz and Dick.”
