Marc Bell, a Boca Raton investor and CEO of FriendFinder Networks, Inc. — the company that owns Penthouse magazine — said he would consider running for Congress, a Palm Beach Post blog reported Thursday.

Bell has not registered any party affiliation, but said he would run as a Democrat for the Palm Beach–Broward District 22 seat where two other Democrats and one Republican have opened campaigns.

Rep. Allen West, a Republican, currently represents that district. But West has November plans to run in a different district to the north, District 18.

“The way I look at the world, like most Americans I’m middle-of-the-road,” Bell said. “I dont want to just be another politician. The question is, can I make a difference?”

Besides being involved in a variety of business projects, Bell has also been an investor and co-producer of the Tony Award winning musicals “Jersey Boys” and “August: Osage County.”

The Post reported that Bell has not set a timetable on making a decision whether or not to run.
