It’s been 16 years since the Coen brothers put Fargo, N.D. on the map with their film about a kidnapping gone awry in “Fargo.”

Now, FX wants to adapt the film for the small screen, Variety reports.

The crazy cult favorite about several small town murders skyrocketed directors Ethan and Joel Coen to critical and commercial success. Frances McDormand won the best actress Academy Award for her portrayal of a pregnant cop who gets to the bottom of the nonsensical crimes.

Negotiations for a series are still in the early stages, and this isn’t the first time a network has tried to bring “Fargo” to the living room.

In 1997 Edie Falco starred as Marge Gunderson in a pilot for a spin-off of the film, but it didn’t go anywhere.

If things pan out, let’s hope nobody gets caught in the wood chipper this time around.
