Adding to decades worth of examples proving this assertion, here is some more recent proof that Chevy Chase is still a jerk. (RELATED: Chevy Chase to ‘Community’ creator: ‘F*ck you’)

After an expletive-laden voicemail from the comedian to “Community” showrunner Dan Harmon leaked online last week, there has been much speculation whether Chase will remain on the cult comedy — that is if it is renewed for a fourth season by NBC.

In another excerpt of a voicemail from Chase to Harmon, obtained by the website Celebuzz, Chase seriously chomps down on the hand that feeds him:

“If you want me on this fucking show again, I got news for you, I don’t want it! It’s just a fucking mediocre sitcom! I want people to laugh and this isn’t funny.” He continued: “It ain’t funny to me because I’m 67-years-old and I’ve been doing this a long time. I’ve been making a lot of people laugh — a lot better than this.”

Chase has been notoriously difficult to deal with since he was one of the original cast members on “Saturday Night Live” in 1975. But the recent feud between Chase and Harmon reveals on-set tension on a show that is standing on thin ice to begin with.

NBC put the series on a hiatus in the middle of the third season, but “Community” returned to record-high ratings last month. But the April 5 episode drew just 3.1 million viewers — the lowest ratings for the series yet.

The future of “Community” is uncertain — and for the sake of the show’s fans, this could be Pierce Hawthorne’s last semester at Greendale Community College.
