Dr. Dre has a message for eager fans expecting a Tupac hologram tour: Not so fast.

In a video message taped during the second weekend of the Coachella music festival, the rapper squelched gossip that a 2D Tupac will be making a trip across the U.S. sometime soon. But he also (smartly) leaves open the possibility. (RELATED: Hologram Tupac may be projected onto a stage near you)

“[The hologram] was strictly for Coachella — get it right. I want to get rid of all the rumors out there,” he said.  “This was not done for a tour… if a tour happens, we’ll see. This was done strictly for Coachella 2012, baby, just for you.”

After the Tupac hologram performed last Sunday with Snoop Dogg, the Internet was abuzz with reports that the lifelike image would go on tour. The CEO of the company that resurrected Tupac was quoted in the Wall Street Journal saying, “Dre has massive plans for this” — which quickly turned into tour rumors.

Fans were so excited by the possibility of a hologram tour that people even speculated about what other beloved dead singers could be revived.

Now that Dr. Dre has stomped on the flames of the Tupac rumor, let the Whitney Houston hologram rumors ignite.
