The Twitter account for “Attack Watch,” the combative in-house spin machine for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign, has gone dark as of Tuesday morning. According to Twitter, the account is now private.

Through “Attack Watch,” the Obama campaign was watching The Daily Caller, The Drudge Report and several other media outlets of various political persuasions.

After immense pressure when the campaign originally launched “Attack Watch” last fall, the president’s political team shifted its focus into what it called “Truth Teams.” Attack Watch was one of the so-called “Truth Teams.” (SEE ALSO: Obama campaign ‘watching’ The Daily Caller)

Glenn Beck’s The Blaze pointed out that after “consistent ridicule,” especially when it came to the “Attack Watch” section, “the Truth Teams started flying lower on the political radar.”

But, recently, the campaign appears to have jumped back on the aggressive “Attack Watch” style bandwagon. Last week, Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter invited Obama supporters to “report an attack” on the Truth Team website.

An Obama campaign spokesperson told TheDC after publication that “Attack Watch” still exists under the wider campaign “Truth Team” and the “Attack Watch” Twitter account was rolled into @TruthTeam2012.
