Former President George H. W. Bush has a little something in common with someone you wouldn’t quite expect: teen sensation Justin Bieber.
During a “Today Show” interview with his granddaughter, Jenna Bush Hager, in honor of his 88th birthday, the 41st president showed off his penchant for colorful socks — something that Bieber also beloves.
Hager pointed out her grandfather’s pair of yellow and blue argyle socks, to which Bush replied in his sweetly Southern drawl, “Well, I like a colorful sock. I’m a sock man. This is a modest pair here today — subdued you might say.”
Hager told him that people have compared his love for socks to that of Bieber’s.
“Bieb? Is he a sock man?,” Bush said. “I don’t know much about the Bieber — I don’t see him, I don’t know what he does.”
After Hager sang a verse of the Biebs’ hit single, “Baby,” Bush furrowed his 88-year-old brow and said, “I don’t think I’d like it.”
