On Wednesday, pro-life investigative group Live Action released another hidden-camera video, this time revealing two Planned Parenthood clinics in Hawaii advising a woman how to obtain a sex-selective abortion if her child is a baby girl.
The video highlights clinics in Maui and Honolulu. According to Planned Parenthood of Hawaii CEO Andrea Anderson, the staff in the video acted appropriately.
“A group that opposes Planned Parenthood’s mission and services is promoting a hoax patient videotape that features clinicians from two of our health centers as well as an introduction featuring an actor posing as a Planned Parenthood clinician,” Anderson said in a statement provided to The Daily Caller. “Edited videos of hoax patient visits are part of a coordinated campaign by this group over the last several years to distort Planned Parenthood’s services, mission and values. Today’s video shows two staff members providing accurate information in response to highly unusual questions.”
In Maui, Planned Parenthood counselor Leslie Watson stressed non-judgment about a Live Action actor’s decision to abort based on gender.
“This is your reason and this is your situation,” Watson said in the video. “So they should be accommodating because this can help you determine, and it’s nobody’s business and nobody’s reason but yours.”
A Planned Parenthood counselor in Live Action’s Honolulu sting tells the actor to be sure to space out her abortions when she decides to terminate on the basis of sex, going on to suggest that she obtain her abortion through Hawaii’s QUEST state health insurance.
“So if I wanted to terminate a girl, the government would pay for it?” the actor asked in the film.
“They don’t care,” the counselor responded.
“This latest footage shows Planned Parenthood’s abortion-first mentality deployed in the service of a search-and-destroy mission against pre-born girls,” said Live Action President Lila Rose. “Sex-selective abortion is a prime example of how Planned Parenthood’s abortion empire is the real war on women. And in Hawaii and many other states, taxpaying Americans who are overwhelmingly opposed to sex-selective abortion foot the bill.”
Planned Parenthood has publicly condemned sex-selective abortions, and Anderson reiterated the group’s condemnation of the practice.
“Planned Parenthood opposes racism and sexism in all forms, and we work to advance equity and human rights in the delivery of health care,” she explained. “Planned Parenthood condemns sex selection, and urges leaders to challenge the underlying conditions that lead to these beliefs and practices, including addressing the social, legal, economic, and political conditions that promote gender bias and lead some to value one gender over the other.”
