Contrary to one hilarious internet rumor, Fox News talk show host Bill O’Reilly is not engaged to Variety editorial director Peter Bart, E! online reports.
A hacker created a personal blog Wednesday night, and wrote a lengthy message pretending to be Bart, stating that he was not only coming out of the closet as a gay man, but also was happily engaged to the “O’Reilly Factor” host.
“I am Gay and I think I always have been I am dating Bill O’Reilly from Fox and we are very much in love,” the post reads. “Bill is ever so sweet in real life all the redneck stuff he spouts on Fox is just showbiz, In real life She is so sweet.”
Along with some atrocious grammar, the post is completely untrue. Bart is happily married to Phyllis Fredette, and O’Reilly has been married to Maureen E. McPhilmy since 1996. The Hollywood Reporter received a faux invitation to Bart’s fake wedding to O’Reilly, along with other media outlets.
Bart laughed off the prank, and says he has no idea who the hacker could be, but would love to find out.
“It’s not true. I know Bill O’Reilly a little bit. I had lunch with him five years ago,” Bart says. “I just got three or four emails from friends saying, ‘This is hilarious.'”
