Any dreams 22-year-old Nastia Liukin had of earning a spot on the Olympic roster were abruptly destroyed during the final day of the U.S. Olympic gymnastic team trials held in San Jose, Calif. on Sunday night.

The five-time medalist and all-around champion of the 2008 Beijing Games crashed to the mat during her bars routine, guaranteeing she will not compete in the London Games. She also scored low on during her balance beam routine — the only two events she was in competition for this year.

Liukin was unable to grip the high bar halfway through her routine, landing her face flat on the mat.  She picked herself up and finished her routine, but it was not enough to make the cut.

Another U.S. Olympian, 16-year-old Jordyn Wieber, DeWitt, Mich., landed in first place after the first two days of the trials.
