Well, the first one that has nothing to do with Vin Diesel, anyway. I don’t watch enough late-night shows anymore to know for sure, so if there’s a previous example, I stand corrected. But this is the first one I’ve heard about:
“It was so hot, Eric Holder was smuggling water pistols!”
It’s unclear whether Jay Leno’s audience had any idea what he was talking about, considering his own network’s news division has barely touched the story. But obviously Leno and his writing staff are keeping up with current events, despite the abject failure of their colleagues.
