Dazzling Custom Pistols and Double-Barreled 1911 Highlight September/October American Handgunner

San Diego, Calif. — Pristine custom handguns from Dave Lauck of D&L Sports grace the cover of the September/October issue of American Handgunner. Contributing editor John Taffin gushed over these dazzling handguns — they are not only works of art, but also incredibly dependable and accurate.

“[These pistols] are definitely beautiful on the outside, however this is teamed up with perfection in performance,” Taffin writes. “Any of these beautifully enhanced pistols and sixguns pictured, are also totally dependable working guns.”

The handguns shown include a Centennial 1911, a pair of Texas Ranger 1911s, and a “Dirty Harry” Model 29 custom-built for Clint Eastwood himself — all of which are worth a look.

Also in this issue of American Handgunner, the groundbreaking AF2011-A1 warrants a double take — as it is the first production double-barreled 1911 pistol in the world. This innovative 1911 by Arsenal Firearms captured the attention of Stefan Perey, Handgunner’s European correspondent, at the recent IWA Show in Nuremberg, Germany.

According to Perey, with both magazines and the chambers loaded, “you can theoretically deliver 18 rounds, or over 4,100 grains of bullet weight to the target. That’s about 9.5 ounces, ladies and gentlemen, or more than a half-pound of lead into a target in a few seconds.”

The September/October issue also features articles on the novelty of shoulder-stocked handguns, the new Beretta 9mm Nano, the transformation of a beater pre-war Colt into a beauty, and how the Freedom Arms .45 Colt is the quintessential “perfect packin’ pistol.”

A Nighthawk Custom AAC-T .45 highlights the September/October Gun of the Month giveaway. This collaboration pistol with Advanced Armament Corporation comes suppressor-ready with a host of custom features. The giveaway also includes Stack-On’s Portable Security Case, the “Wrapid” belt holster from Andrews Leather, the unique Mantis Knives MU-6 Red Cyclops, and Tactical Ultima hearing protection.
