Obama praises Aaron Sorkin by stating the obvious

At yet another pricey Hollywood fundraiser Monday night, President Barack Obama and his wealthy donors took turns blowing smoke up each other’s rear ends, according to pool reports.

Mega movie producer Harvey Weinstein, who hosted the $35,800 per ticket event at his Westport, Conn. estate, introduced Obama to the crowd of 60 with an analogy that made no sense at all. Weinstein rightly praised Obama’s goodwill for his visit to Aurora, Colo., and then said, “You can make the case that a he’s the Paul Newman of American presidents.”

Of course, Obama is also known for his rugged good looks, piercing blue eyes, stoic demeanor and delicious salad dressings.

Obama then stepped up to the microphone and lavished praise on Hollywood’s most condescending screenwriter, Aaron Sorkin.

Sorkin is the insufferably preachy writer responsible for the preachy and oft-insufferable TV series “The West Wing” and “The Newsroom.”

During his remarks, Obama said that Sorkin “writes the way every Democrat in Washington wished they spoke.”

Obama also praised Anne Hathaway for her performance as Catwoman in “The Dark Knight Rises.”

“She’s spectacular,” the president said. “I got a chance to see Batman, and she was the best thing in it. That’s just my personal opinion.”
