On Current TV’s “The War Room” on Tuesday night, Abby Huntsman, the daughter of former Republican presidential hopeful Jon Huntsman, accused the Republican Party of being close-minded before apparently accepting host Jennifer Granholm’s invitation to join the Democrats.

“I haven’t told a lot of people this, I might get in trouble for saying this,” Huntsman said, “but [Jon Huntsman] was supposed to speak at a fundraiser in Florida and the RNC contacted him and said because you are speaking out about the need for a third voice, you’re no longer invited to represent us at the fundraiser. In fact, he’s actually been disinvited to a lot of events.”

Huntsman, whose father won’t be participating in the Republican convention in Tampa later this month, said that she doubted her father would be missing much.

“So the party that we see today is one of non-inclusion,” she continued. “And you know, what is someone like my dad supposed to do? He’s like, ‘You know I’ll sit on the sidelines and I hope — I will continue to speak out on what I believe in. But in terms of missing out on going to the convention, I don’t think he’s missing a whole lot.”

Granholm, the former Democratic governor of Michigan, said she would send Huntsman an invitation to join the Democratic Party. “I will join you there,” Huntsman replied.

The media-savvy Huntsman girls made a name for themselves last year after they made a series of campaign videos for their father, including a spoof of Herman Cain’s famous “smoking” web ad. After her father’s campaign ended, Abby successfully parlayed that attention into new gig with the Huffington Post.
