Pat Buchanan explains why Democrats abandon civility more than Republicans

During Sean Hannity’s radio show Thursday, he and commentator Pat Buchanan discussed the hostility they have both experienced from liberals during past Democratic National Conventions. And Buchanan concluded that some activists on the left are so vicious about politics because politics is all they have in their lives.

Accusations about a lack of civility are nothing new, and they are often flung back and forth between the left and the right. But Buchanan, the author of “Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025?” sees a distinct difference between how the two sides handle it.

It’s where politics falls in the pecking order of liberals’ life-long priorities, he said, that drives their venom.

“For Democrats, many Democrats, politics is the be-all and end-all of this life,” Buchanan said. “It’s the most important thing in their lives. And to lose that is to lose salvation, virtually.”

“If your whole life is built around the political system in this world, etc. — and there’s a real sense of that.”
