Prolific tweeter Samuel L. Jackson admittedly “kicked a hornets nest” Monday night after he tweeted that it was “unfair” that Hurricane Isaac missed the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., on its way to New Orleans.

Hurricane Isaac was expected to cause damage to Tampa during the RNC, but turned toward Louisiana. It is expected to make landfall on the seventh anniversary of the devastating Hurricane Katrina.

After a barrage of angry tweets, the “Snakes On a Plane” actor tried to walk back his comment.

The actor, who admitted to voting for President Barack Obama in 2008 because of his race, then exclaimed that “MUHFREPUBLICANS” (perhaps a portmanteau for “mother f**kin Republicans”? Anyone?) are an enthusiastic bunch of tweeters.

Jackson then tweeted out a warning to followers of all political proclivities to stay safe in the face of Hurricane Isaac.
