This might be the dumbest nontroversy you’ll see all day

Font Size:

No guarantees, though. We still have one more night of the DNC left to go.

First you need to watch this ad:

Okay, that was kinda silly. The Republicans are targeting the undecideds, or independents, or whatever they call themselves. The wishy-washy vote. “You thought Obama was such a dreamboat in ’08. What happened?” It’s an amusing little skit, with an attractive woman who’s obviously not an actress but who delivers the lines competently. Humor is tough to pull off in political ads, but this one is alright.

You do realize what this means, don’t you? THE REPUBLICANS ARE LYING AGAIN!!!

TPM:

Republicans debuted a new ad Thursday in which a frustrated former Obama supporter expresses her disappointment with the president. The only problem: The woman in the video is actually an RNC staffer.

The new ad features Republican National Committee Director of Hispanic Outreach Bettina Inclan, who in the ad purports to be an average woman voter who supported Obama in 2008. She describes her disillusionment with the president in the ad as a romantic relationship gone awry.

BuzzFeed:

But the woman in the video expressing frustration with the president is none other than RNC Director of Hispanic Outreach Bettina Inclan. If Inclan voted for Obama in 2008 she did so privately while publicly supporting Republicans, as Rep. Thad McCotter’s communications director and then a regional Victory director for John McCain’s campaign.

The Stranger:

Incredible. They couldn’t find one single disillusioned Obama supporter? Will the next ad feature Mitt Romney in a fake mustache talking about how his Democratic principles are offended by Barack Obama?

Miami Herald:

An RNC spokesman told Talking Points Memo that although Inclan is not a Democrat, nor is she a real former Obama supporter, the portrayal is not dishonest. “It’s a lighthearted ad to show how millions of Americans feel about President Obama — he’s not the person we thought he was and it’s time to break up with him,” the spokesman said. “But let’s be clear, it is an ad.”

Etc.

Seriously. They really do think you’re this stupid. I’m surprised they aren’t pointing out that she’s delivering her lines to a cardboard cutout, not the real Obama, and calling that a “problem.”

Liberals have a great sense of humor about everything but themselves.

Although this pathetic attempt at a gotcha is a good reminder that just a couple of weeks ago, the Obama campaign put out an ad featuring “Republican Women for Obama”:

Within 24 hours of the ad’s debut, two of those women were confirmed as die-hard Democrats. And this ad wasn’t an attempt at humor. It wasn’t a skit. It was presented as a collection of personal testimonials, and it was false. The Obama campaign just plain lied.

Again.

P.S. Another actual lie from the Democrats. If you want to know what they’re up to, just listen to their accusations against their opponents.
