Allen West, the Republican congressman from Florida, made no doubt that he is a supporter of the Second Amendment on the campaign trail recently. Quoting from our Founding Fathers he addressed a group of supporters finishing with “An armed man is a citizen; a disarmed man is a subject.”
West is a retired Army lieutenant colonel who served in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. His decorations include a Bronze Star, a Meritorious Service Medal and a Army Commendation Medal.
