Apparently, the Obama campaign thought a mildly amusing ad about Big Bird would distract from four years of incompetent, dishonest leadership, rather than serve as yet another example of it. Oh well…
Okay, okay, so Stewart actually said “paying for tax cuts” — as if all money belongs to the government and they’re magnanimous enough to let you keep some of it — and he brought up the phony “$5 trillion” number. And of course, there’s the obligatory, crowd-pleasing shot at Palin. Give the guy a break. You can’t expect Jon Stewart to stop spewing left-wing gibberish just because he recognizes Obama’s incompetence.
See, that’s the pivot all the lefties have to do right now. It can’t be that their ideas are ridiculous and stupid. It’s just that Obama sucks at explaining them. They’re conceding their faulty belief in Obama’s powers of persuasion, because the alternative is to give up their entire worldview. It’s a messaging problem. Fake but accurate. Etc.
Hey, it’s a start. Jon Stewart might not be saying the emperor has no clothes, but at least he realizes they’re way out of style.
