On Fox News Channel’s “On the Record” following Tuesday night’s presidential debate, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said he wasn’t going to whine about “the rules or the moderator,” but he did suggest that moderator Candy Crowley aided President Barack Obama in lying about the way he referenced the Benghazi tragedy as a terrorist event.

“Well, look — I’m not going to whine about the rules or the moderator,” Priebus said. “I will say, though, that tonight, point-blank, the president lied to the American people about Libya. I think the moderator may have helped that along as well.”

As for the totality of the debate, Priebus said that Republican nominee Mitt Romney had fulfilled his mission, while Obama’s message was lacking.

“And the other takeaway here is that the governor had a plan, he had a vision, and every single time Gov. Romney went to the truth as to where we are in this economy, the president had no answers. He sat quietly. He couldn’t defend the truth as to where we were on his watch, on the president’s watch tonight, and I think between the lie on Libya, which I think will make his Libya headache even worse, and where we are in this economy, in the fact that he didn’t have an answer. I think that’s the story coming out of the debate tonight.”
