The hockey’s marquee regular-season game has been canceled while the NHL lockout continues. The NHL announced their decision to cancel the Jan. 1 game Friday morning, ESPN reports.

The Detroit Red Wings were supposed to battle the Toronto Maple Leafs at Ann Arbor’s Michigan Stadium, which seats 110,000 people. The Winter Classic is traditionally played outdoors and on New Years Day.

The announcement came as both the league and the players continue to negotiate, although no agreement looks likely. The league has already canceled games through Nov. 30.
