The outcome of the 2012 presidential election will affect us for years and years to come. For non-politicos who weren’t immersed in the day-to-day issues of the seemingly never-ending campaign, or for those simply apathetic to politics, the election’s effects will wear off soon enough.

However, for two twin brothers, the effects of the 2012 election will stick with them for the rest of their lives.

Millicent Owuor, 20, gave birth two twin boys named Barack and Mitt on Nov. 6 — the day of the election — in southwest Kenya, the BBC reports.

Owuor told Kenya’s Standard that she named her sons after the presidential candidates so that she would remember this Election Day forever.

“I named the first twin Barack and the second one Mitt,” Owuor said, according to Reuters, which is fitting since Barack came in first followed closely by Mitt.

The president’s roots can be traced back to Kenya, where his father was from.
