Education Secretary Arne Duncan joked Wednesday that he was more likely to become a “male stripper” than secretary of state, in response to his name being floated for the U.S. Cabinet position by New York Times columnist Tom Friedman Tuesday.
In a column, Friedman wrote that Duncan would be the best candidate for the position.
ABC News reported that, when asked about about the Friedman column after he delivered a speech to the Foundation for Excellence in Education in Washington, Duncan jokingly brushed off the notion.
“Last week, The Onion said I was going to become a male stripper,” Duncan said. “The Onion is probably more accurate than Tom Friedman.”
