New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez last year took a hard line against Secret Service agents who solicited prostitutes while on security detail for President Barack Obama in Colombia.

“If the facts are true, they should all be fired,” he told an interviewer in April 2012. The clip was reported by BuzzFeed’s Andrew Kaczynski in October.

The FBI raided the offices yesterday of a Miami doctor and political donor who allegedly procured prostitutes for him — some of them as young as 16 — during trips to the Dominican Republic.

Menendez said last April that some Secret Service agents’ claims of underfunding were no defense for their dereliction of duty in Colombia.

“I don’t think that’s an excuse,” he told his interviewer. “You know what your duty and obligation is. You know you’re there to protect the president. You know you’re representing the United States of America. You don’t go solicit prostitutes.”
