White House press secretary Jay Carney on Wednesday refused to respond to Tennessee Rep. Marsha Blackburn’s request to skeet shoot one-on-one with President Barack Obama, who attracted skepticism when he claimed in a recent interview with The New Republic that he goes skeet shooting “all the time” at Camp David.

Asked if he had any response to Blackburn’s challenge, Carney replied curtly, “I have none.” He then immediately moved to another questioner.

“If he is a skeet shooter, why have we not heard of this? Why have we not seen photos? Why hasn’t he referenced this at any point in time?” Blackburn said Monday on CNN’s “Erin Burnett OutFront.”

“I tell you what I do think,” she added. “I think he should invite me to Camp David, and I’ll go skeet shooting with him, and I bet I’ll beat him.”

On Tuesday, The New Republic tweeted this photo of President Obama apparently holding a shotgun, in an effort to alleviate doubters.

There was just one problem: The picture was an obvious fake, prompting the magazine to delete the tweet within minutes.
