For those unfamiliar with the vernacular, a “cockpunch” is defined as a punch to the groin area. And for whatever reason, it is the sort of thing that Bill Hemmer, co-host of “America’s Newsroom” on the Fox News Channel, deserves — at least, according to Esquire magazine blogger Charles P. Pierce.

In a post on Friday morning titled “Bill Hemmer needs to be cockpunched,” Pierce took issue with Hemmer for downplaying 102-year-old Desiline Victor’s three-hour wait to vote on Election Day last year.

“There are some people who are just awful people who should be shunned by decent folk and shamed publicly until they slink out of my profession in shame, and the same thing should happen to people who defend them, and I’m looking at you, Jake Tapper,” Pierce wrote, referring to Tapper’s 2009 defense of Fox News as a legitimate news organization when the White House effectively declared it an entertainment channel.

Pierce goes on to call Hemmer a “soulless career climber” and digs up an old quote in which Hemmer compares Fox News to the New York Yankees.

“Well, you’re a big enough dick to be A-Rod, I’ll give you that,” Pierce wrote.

When discussing Victor’s struggle to vote on Fox News Radio’s “Kilmeade & Friends” on Friday, Hemmer had suggested Victor’s ordeal was overblown.

“They held her up as a victim,” Hemmer said. What was she a victim of?”
