If you’ve ever wondered if it would be a good idea to sit around at work watching porn on your laptop while it’s plugged into an overhead projector, wonder no more.
A visiting professor at Wageningen University in the Netherlands has helpfully selected himself for a test run. The results aren’t good, reports Betabeat, a website that reports on the tech world.
The unnamed professor is a professor emeritus at the University of Ghent, a Dutch-speaking public university located — not surprisingly — in Ghent, Belgium. He specializes in lipids and has taught a course called Advanced Food Chemistry for many years at Wageningen University in the central Netherlands, reports the Algemeen Dagblad, a Dutch media site.
The Belgian prof was busted watching obscene videos in a classroom at the Dutch research university. His website of choice was Pornhub, a video-sharing site based in Montreal, Canada.
He apparently failed to unhook the cable connecting the projector to his laptop as he was getting his porn fix. Among the results was a larger-than-life crotch shot, now preserved for posterity by a Reddit user.
The flaw in the professor’s smut-watching plan was that the class he was teaching was being recorded for online viewing, notes Betabeat. It seems that the online taping continued after he thought he had concluded his lecture. A student who had to verify the recording discovered the porn.
The professor has been relieved of his teaching duties at Wageningen University.
On the plus side, someone claiming to represent Pornhub suggested that the professor could score a valuable subscription out of the deal.
“We’d like to offer him a free premium membership. Tell him to email us support at pornhub.com – from Pornhub,” wrote someone with the Reddit name Katie_Pornhub.
Students told the Algemeen Dagblad that he was a very good teacher.
