Bill Maher is getting Tea’d off

Font Size:

You might think that Bill Maher’s $1 million donation to Barack Obama’s presidential campaign indicates he’s a fan of big government. And you’d be right. But apparently Maher draws the line at the government telling him what to do.

Here’s Maher explaining to Jimmy Kimmel why he doesn’t like Michael Bloomberg’s style:

“I think it gives liberals a bad name. It makes liberals look like bullies who want to tell people what to do.” Well, they are, and they do. Bloomberg is just a particularly vocal and uncommonly loathsome example.

Maher is fine with telling people what to do, if he thinks that what he’s telling people to do is a good idea. And, of course, provided he doesn’t have to abide by the rules he wants to set for everybody else. He’s just worried that Bloomberg is making it look bad.

All sorts of people lay awake at night worrying about what the rest of us are doing. All sorts of people think that’s the role of government. This is why we have Obamacare.

Which Maher loves.
